Sustainability

Sustainably Sourced. Fully Traceable.

Know where your fire comes from.

Fire Without Compromise

We believe great charcoal shouldn’t cost the Earth. That’s why every bag of Carbón Gaucho is:

  • Sourced from managed forests—not cleared land
  • Harvested selectively—taking only what regenerates
  • Fully traceable—from forest to your grill
  • Produced by local communities—supporting families, not factories

This isn’t marketing. It’s how we operate.

Selective Harvesting: Forestry Done Right

There’s a difference between deforestation and forestry.

Deforestation means clearing land—destroying ecosystems to make way for agriculture or development. That’s not what we do.

Our producers practice selective harvesting: carefully choosing individual trees while preserving the forest’s overall health. The extraction rate is always lower than the forest’s natural regeneration rate. This means the forest grows back—often stronger than before.

Over 70% of our charcoal comes from small producers with fewer than three kilns, surrounded by thriving forest. This isn’t industrial production. It’s a centuries-old practice in balance with nature.

From Forest to Flame

Every bag of Carbón Gaucho can be traced back to its source:

  • 📍 Forest of Origin — The specific woodland where the quebracho was harvested
  • 👤 Producer ID — The family or cooperative that made the charcoal
  • 📋 Harvest Documentation — Official permits from Argentina’s forestry authority
  • 🏭 Processing Facility — Where the charcoal was graded and packaged
  • 🚢 Export Certification — Customs and phytosanitary documentation

We work closely with the Chamber of Charcoal Producers of Santiago del Estero and Argentina’s Dirección de Bosques to ensure full compliance with national and international standards.

Building a Better Future

We’re actively working toward third-party sustainability certification to meet emerging international standards, including EU regulations coming into effect in 2026.

Our goal: be the most transparent, traceable charcoal brand in the U.S. market.
